First Mate

First Mate is a British Columbia brand, stocked here across dog and cat food in dry, canned and treat form. The dog kibble is the largest part, with a solid canned selection for cats.

Much of the range is built around fish, which is a practical starting point for pets that react to chicken or beef. The Grain Friendly recipes pair a single protein with rice or oats for pets that do better with some grain, while the grain-free side keeps to limited ingredient lists. The cat cans come in small single-serve sizes, which is the cheapest way to test whether a fussy cat will accept a new flavour before you commit to a case.
